What Shore means
Shore hardness is a scale for how firmly a rubber pushes back. Low numbers are soft and stretchy, high numbers are firm.
Tools and calculators
Slide through silicone hardness grades and see how each one flexes.
The strip shows roughly how much a mould wall of the same thickness would sag and flex. Softer silicone peels away from undercuts more easily, firmer silicone holds its shape.
These are general guides. We pick the grade for your shape, material and number of pours, and can send a sample of the silicone to feel first.
How we choose a hardnessHow it works
Shore hardness is a scale for how firmly a rubber pushes back. Low numbers are soft and stretchy, high numbers are firm.
Soft silicone copes with undercuts but wears faster and can bulge under heavy pours. Firmer moulds keep flat bottoms and square edges.
Some moulds use a soft inner skin and a firm outer case, so you get easy release and a mould that keeps its shape.
